S-Bertha Paul ovarrubio North Gets in the X 0 0 I I N, Spirit at homecoming On Friday night, October 17, North High stu- dents, faculty, and alumni gathered in the stadi- um to await the homecoming activities. Some came to see the football game, some came to see the crowning of the King and Queen, and others came to see the floats. Most people, though, drawn by the magic of homecoming, came to share in the nights' gala of activities. Tension mounted as everyone anxiously awaited the naming of the homecoming King and Queen. Angel Reynoso and Molly Ryan, the newly elected homecoming royalty, reigned over the halftime activities and the homecoming dance. The evening ended on a happy note when the Mustangs scored a galloping victory over Tolleson. Although some of the players, such as outstanding runners Tailback Brian Smith and Wingback Tony Villori and the leading pass catcher-scoring end Victor Moreno, gained most of the recognition with the points they scored, this could not have been accomplished without the terrific effort put forth by the quarterback Robert Garcia, full- backs Rodney Staggers and Robert Carlucci, and tremendous jobs per- formed by split ends Robert Shivers and Wayne Sublett. The tackles doing ...M f,,,,, 1 a great job were joe Ayers, Robert Starks, and james Mendoza. Guards Peter Flores, Marvin Smith and Victor Hall performed amazingly against much larger opponents. Ramon Pratt, Vice President The freshmen class came to North this fall ready for a pano- rama of new and exciting experi- ences. First day fears included the unfamiliarity of a new campus, new teachers, and a new group of friends. Once the rooms and names were learned, though, came the excitement of high school life. Freshmen enjoyed the assemblies, the football games, and of course- their new found freedom. Freshmen were also faced with a barrage of tests. The class of '79 must prove their proficiency in reading, and math. The class of '79 got off to a solid start with the help of two good sponsers. Mr. Bert Belluzzi and Mr. Howard Shumate helped the freshmen class to build a good foundation for their coming years at North. ff.
