Judges Turn Student Honor Court has played its traditional role at North Phoenix High for over thirty years. The judges, elected by the associated student body, have been able to provide to their peers fair, impartial trials. This is one of the reasons that North holds the title of the Honor School of the West. Chief Justice, Jerry Solove, feels that Honor Court should handle other responsibilities, also. This year, the elected officials took time to review the club constitutions. Opening new lines of communication with the masses was accomplished by means of an opinion poll on what is ex- pected from student government. The Court also tried a sys- tem of counseling offenders instead of assigning punish- ments. 2 Counselors 1-Manuel Pereira and Kathy Wiitala deliberate. 2-Jesse Torrez, Virgina Adams, Kathy Wiitala, and Kevin Lucus listen to a defendent. 3-Chief Justice, Jerry Solove, explains Honor Court to a defendent. 4-Mr. Hag- erty sponsered Honor Court this year for the second time. l 22 Honor Court
