The Senate, a representative of all the students at North High once again sponsored the half-time activities for Homecoming. This year there was a change in the Coronation activities. The robes and rugs used for the King and Queen of Home- coming were bought for the first time here at North, instead of renting them as is the usual procedure. Besides working on this most important event, Senate also directed its attention to setting up a workshop to involve students with their student body leaders. This would enable the students to become better acquainted with their officers and vice-versa. Also Senate worked on an updating of North's constitution. Senate did a great job this year in truly rep- resenting our student body. 20 Senate Senate Hosts K f .V- , . .Q . 4, ,g 'lr X 1 - 1 :lp . Q ,W E A Q: ' l- U' L . Judges Turn Student Honor Court has played its traditional role at North Phoenix High for over thirty years. The judges, elected by the associated student body, have been able to provide to their peers fair, impartial trials. This is one of the reasons that North holds the title of the Honor School of the West. Chief Justice, Jerry Solove, feels that Honor Court should handle other responsibilities, also. This year, the elected officials took time to review the club constitutions. Opening new lines of communication with the masses was accomplished by means of an opinion poll on what is ex- pected from student government. The Court also tried a sys- tem of counseling offenders instead of assigning punish- ments. 2 Counselors 1-Manuel Pereira and Kathy Wiitala deliberate. 2-Jesse Torrez, Virgina Adams, Kathy Wiitala, and Kevin Lucus listen to a defendent. 3-Chief Justice, Jerry Solove, explains Honor Court to a defendent. 4-Mr. Hag- erty sponsered Honor Court this year for the second time. l 22 Honor Court
