incerely dicaled ln appreciation this sixteenth volume of Hootbeats is sincerely dedicated to two of North Phoenix High School's most beloved teachers, Miss Gladys Neil and Mr. Fred McDonald who passed away this school year. Miss Neil, a biology instructor, had taught here at North for quite a few years and for the last several years had served as head of the North High Science Department. She became ill this last summer and spent most ot the sum- mer in the hospital. Miss Neil returned to teach this tall as usual but shortly after the tirst of the year she became quite ill and for several weeks before she passed away she was confined to a hospital bed. Mr. Fred McDonald, a mathematics instructor, had taught in the Phoenix High School System for 27 years. Pre- vious to that he served six years as principal ot the Jerome High School in Jerome, Arizona. Mr. McDonald died unexpectedly during the Christmas holidays. The many students at North High that have been taught by these two instructors know what fine people they were and that we will have to go a long way to match the character and respect held for them.
