I I gh ' e vaessl vt The Memorial Commit- tee was first organized in 1942 with a scheme to col- lect a fund, amounting to a penny per student en- rolled, to be used in con- structing a memorial. The memorial will bear names of boys and girls who lost their lives and, if space permits, it will also bear the names of those wounded. The Student Council de- clared they wanted some- thing functional rather than a statute to be posted. Cp,s3co,,a 1 . al SPOX dgbqiq ' Q6bteeiA15. Under the management of Mrs. Ruth Smith, the kitchen staff suc- ceeded in serving lunches even while the building of the cafeteria was going on. Despite food shortages the students have been served food which is in keeping with the basic seven chart. The North High janitorial staff is to be commended for its work. Taking care of the lawns, keeping the buildings clean, breaking locks from lockers, tending to the heating system, and replacing broken Windows are only a few of the things that this staff takes care of. Even with all of these duties, our janitors always are pleas- ant and courteous to the students and teachers. Below: Mrs. Ruth Smith is assisted by Mrs. Schipper. Mrs Elliott. Mrs. Williams. and Mrs. Loury in the cafeteria.
