Coach Andrews The 1976 Mustangs were plagued by their inability to cross the goal line. Mistakes and penalties stopped our offense more than the opgaonent did. The defense-played well except for a ew plays in each game. he brightest occasion of the season occurred on a rainy night October 8 when we defeated the 43 ranke 2-A team Jordan Matthews 6-O. The players gave a good effort all year. Mental mistakes and a lack of physica abilifgy kept us from having a better season than we id. We were competitive in all of our losses except two. With a break or two at the proper time, several of our losses could have been victories. The varsity baseball team began the season with high hopes of being a contender for conference onors. The team played some outstanding games and some poor games. The main weakness of this year's team was the inability to play consistent defense. There were severa outstanding pilgching performances along with many outstanding defensive plays. With a hit at the proper time or with the big defensive lay made, the team's record could have Eeen much improved. Returning next year will be a nucleus of players to have a fine team. I.V.
