Beal Mrs. Frances Green Principal Clerk There are on the job at North Marion every day, besides faculty and students, others who help to keep the school running smoothly. On this page are those who in their particular department have done their job well this year. In the upper left corner is Mrs. Frances Green, secretary to the principal, office manager, and clerk of the school district. Upper center are the school cafeteria cooks, Mrs. Martha Chumbley and Mrs. Dollie Lucento. The smiling gentleman at the right is Mr. Ray Wertz, who with the night custodian, Mr. Ben Netter fhe's camera shyl keeps the building clean and comfortable. Below are the three bus drivers who transport students not only to and from school morningand night but also take them on field trips, to ball games, band contests and otherwise provide transportation when needed. A large number turned out for the sport. To quote coach Walt Aldridge: We have a new brand of foot powder this year which will cure everything except webbed feet. Unquotel Considering the fact that there'were only six boys out for crossfcountry, they made a very good showing. All the North Marion team did very well and continued their good work in the state tournament. More boys are urged to go out for this sport next year. A dinner presented in honor of the fathers of members, and a tea to honor their mothers are annual events. A basket for a needy family is packed at Christmas time. Members attend and participate in district and state conventions. Activities are varied enough to interest every girl. Mikkelson, J, Brower, The North Marion chapter of FFA had such a successful year that the yearbook staff felt they should have special mention. There were other honors than those pictured. The chapter dominated the Marion County Corn show, and was also in charge of the evening program for show. Ron Jeskey 3rd place The chapter scored heavily winner in district in the North Marion County Public SP6-aking Contest- D. Bunn, H. Mikkelson, E, Krupicka Junior Livestock Show at Woodburn. Wayne Lowrie was champion beef showmang John Friend was champion sheep showman, and Vernon Gooding runner- up for the champion swine showman. State Fair placings were topped by Ron Jacobs showing the Grand Champion Hampshire Hog and Wayne Lowrie showing the Reserve Champion Aberdeen Angus Beef. The chapter won 2nd place banner for total points scored in the District Skills Contest held at Albany. Neil Heiling was the first FFA boy to be honored by ap- pointment to the County Corn Show Committee. He was also elected District FFA Vice-President, which is the highest district office.
