Inexperlence played an important part in this year's record, and the lack of height gave the team considerable disadvantage, but we of North Marion feel the season was more than successful with a record of nine games won and twelve games lost. In the District ll tournament the Huskies scored an upset victory over Sacred Heart Academy of Salem and dropped games'uJSllverton and Staytmu Returning next year will be all but two mem- bers of this year's squad, Al Bekebrede, and Jerry Jeskey. The 'B' basketball squad, made up of freshmen and sophomores, started the season with a C51-151 win over Canby and ended the season with a C37-341 win over Col- ton. In between they ran into hard luck and tough com- petition and earned an 8-13 won and lost record. They were successful in serving their purpose, however, which is to develop freshmen and sophomore boys into top contenders for berths on the varsity squad. The pros- pects are good for several of this year's 'B' squad members taking their place on the varsity next year. The squad was unfortunate in losing the servkss of Bob Beal early in the season. In the sixth game of the season,aga1nst Willamina, he injured his knee and was out for the rest of the year. The Huskies started the season by beating Sheridan 5-6, The team was made up mostly of freshmen and sophomores except for a few juniors and seniors. Very few of the boys had had experience playing baseball. With Don Reed coaching the team, however, they hoped to have a very successful year. Bob Diller, Arnold Evans, and Larry Berkey pitched.
