SUPER HISTORIANS Whatever you do, don't fall asleep. Trish, jot that down. The Advanced Placement United States History class taught by Ms. Boule, enrolled able students who were required to participate in role plays, write frequent opinion papers, and submit a term paper at the end of the year. The students share their ideas by learning to be open to new or divergent views and philosophies. They were required to express their opinions in a firm manner with factual accuracy. The students were also taught deductive reasoning, interpretive thinking as well as perfection in writing skills to help them prepare for the Advanced Placement Exam for college credit. Clearly, people, at this stage in the game . . . 24 A.P. U.S. History

Worthy You can stop singing now, Dana. Our lead soprano? The NKHS Concert Choir, led by Mr. Higby, was very successful again this year. The members are selected by audition only and are required to compete throughout the year. This year the Choir traveled to Stonington, Conn, to perform with five other choirs. They also went to Wash- ington, D.C. to participate in a national competition. Non-competitively, the Concert Choir performed at two parade services, two annual concerts, and performances at Class Day and Graduation. The Choir also performed for the Business and Professional Club early in the year. One of their most popular events was the Festival of Lights House Tour held in Wickford at Christmas. The dedication and talent in this group is shown by their active contributions to the community. This year, several students were accepted into the R.l. All-State Chorus, and two students went to the All- Eastern Chorus in Baltimore, Maryland. Although Mr. Higby as well as the seniors will be gone next year, the Choir will con- tinue to represent a strong part of NKHS's excellent music program. Concert Choir 23

AN EYE FOR ENGLISH 3nce upon a time . . . What a class! BINGO! This year, fourteen highly motivated students participated in the Advanced Placement English program taught by Ms. Fleming. The course gave able students the opportunity to experience college level work in high school. The program covered a variety of topics in an in-depth view of literature. The students were evaluated through frequent essays and two term papers throughout the year. They were also given the chance to receive college credit by taking the AP Exam in May. A.P. English 25
