Magic Music “Conductivity The NKHS Symphonic Band allows musicians to experience a different kind of music than offered in other music areas. The band plays a diverse set of music rang- ing from Sousa marches to classical to modem day music. Last year the band placed first at the Rhode Island State Festival and performed at the South County Band Festival. Members received individual recognition for their participation in Solo Ensemble and the Rhode Island All-State. Besides prepar- ing for competition, the band performs four concerts for the community and supplements the schools graduation ceremonies. Through the devotion of the band’s director Joseph Pelosi, the band is able to continue with its overwhelming success. Mr. Pelosi ensures that the Symphonic Band will continue with its con- sistent level of high achievement. “Claude. Where’s your horn?” K Anderson. M Andre. D Angeli. R Argraves, L Beaulieu. B Bowen. KEEPING THE BEAT The N.K.H.S. Marching Band continues to express itself as one of the most outstand- ing marching bands in the state. They represented Rhode Island at the New England Exposition at Springfield, Massachusetts. They performed at halftime shows during the football games and also participated in the Homecoming Parade, as well as in the Veterans Day, Labor Day, and Memorial Day parades through Wickford. The Marching Band allows students to expand their music skills as well as bring recognition to the school. The band is led during their performances under the careful direction of Head Drum Major Tilghman Moyer and Junior Chum Majorette Melissa Devine. Mr. Pelosi gives a great deal of his time and patience to insure that the band will continue with its successful reputation. Is it time for my drum solo? “I’m getting paid for this? 24
