Magic Music “Conductivity The NKHS Symphonic Band allows musicians to experience a different kind of music than offered in other music areas. The band plays a diverse set of music rang- ing from Sousa marches to classical to modem day music. Last year the band placed first at the Rhode Island State Festival and performed at the South County Band Festival. Members received individual recognition for their participation in Solo Ensemble and the Rhode Island All-State. Besides prepar- ing for competition, the band performs four concerts for the community and supplements the schools graduation ceremonies. Through the devotion of the band’s director Joseph Pelosi, the band is able to continue with its overwhelming success. Mr. Pelosi ensures that the Symphonic Band will continue with its con- sistent level of high achievement. “Claude. Where’s your horn?” K Anderson. M Andre. D Angeli. R Argraves, L Beaulieu. B Bowen. A LITTLE JAZZ LITTLE DRUMMER GIRL THE 1985-1986 JAZZ ENSEMBLE 1 X The Jazz Ensemble is one of the most enjoyed musical groups in the high school. It provides students with a learning ex- perience in the jazz music area. The students learn different styles and rhythms of jazz. The band performs annually at the Berklee College of Music Jazz Festival. From a group consisting of fifteen other bands, the NKHS Jazz Ensemble received honorable mention. Last year they also received Honorable Mention at the Annual Jazz Festival held at the University of New Hampshire. The Jazz Ensemble brings recognition to the school when they play on the New England Level. In the years to follow the Jazz Ensemble will carry on their in- dividuality and their musical success. A spe- cial thanks is given to Mr. Pelosi for his patience and guidance throughout the year. 21 PUCKER UP
