MR. HENRY A QUINN English: Providence. The familiar saying that the sun never sets on England's possessions could truthfully be applied to the people who use the language. It is estimated that it is spoken by over one hundred fifty million of the human race. Among the languages of the world, the English is unique in that it is the most composite of them all. From the beginning of its history it has shown a peculiar readiness to take up and make its own many words and forms from other languages, and in none other do foreign terms play so important a part.
