The Art Department per- formed many services for the school as students displayed many of their murals, handicrafts, paintings, drawings, ceramics and papier maches in the hall- ways and display cases. These classes also provided art shows during intermission at both school plays and the variety show. Home Economics courses gave students some basic infor- mation necessary for survival away from Mom and Dad. In- dependent Living provided tips on life as a single after gradua- tion. Family Foods classes learned to cook and make apple sauce, bread, jelly, grape juice and apple pies. They also com- pared micro wave cooking with conventional cooking. In addi- tion, they went to stores and compared prices and the in- gredients of foods. Creative Clothing learned new methods of sewing. They made several items such as a tailored jacket, stretch- able knit fabrics and sewing notebooks. 1.
