Carbons, Court Credits 'WW :K. '..3- Any student who took a business course this year encountered many fresh ideas. Northtown 's business law classes went to the Clay County Circuit Court and on Held trips to equally exciting places. Some who took business law staged a mock trial and took their own case to court. In typing, students learned how to type without watching their fingers, even at impressive speeds. The classes also used the typewriter in a rhythmic method and typed to music. Shorthand classes took dictation at rapid speeds to enhance their job possibilities upon graduation. The accounting classes worked on balance sheets and income statements. They also became involved in business simulation projects both on an individual and a group basis. All of these subjects and others were designed to beneHt the student, now and in the future. Mrs. Kathy Gold: German I-lll Driver's Education saved people money and taught them how to be defensive drivers. ln many cases. having this course made one eligible for reduced insurance rates. Students learned about the danger of driving while intoxicated and other hazards involved in driving. They also became acquain- ted with driving by viewing various safety films. Driving Simulators familiarized students with actual driving situations. Finally, each person was allowed to try his hand at driving by going out in cars provided by the school. This year's language courses did much more than learn a foreign language. These classes cooked foods and saw filmstrips from the country of the language they were studying. They also designed floats for the homecoming parade. Dancing groups were organized and money-making sales were conducted which added to thas year's program.
