BOOK REVEALS Fifty-two years ago, the first North Kansas City High School year- book, the OWL came into exis- tence. Through fifty of those years the yearbook faithfully captured the life and composite personality of NKC despite changes and interferences. In 1944 the Owl modified itself and became a hardbound book. Later, -in 1950, it changed its name and became familiar Purgold During the years of the 0wl's metamorphosis into the Purgold we know today, it faced many problems that made it seem the book would not be published. In fact, due to the depression and other factors, there are no 1927 or 1932 Owls. Thus, the yearbook is celebrating its golden anniversary with the 1977 Purgold The book, over the years, saw the rise and fall of ,many clubs, teachers and classes alien to us. Some of those old clubs that might strike us as particularly unusual were Model Airplane Club, Knit- ting Club, Tkavel Club, Library Club and Fire Prevention Club. The yearbook has had several advisors including our current librarian, Mr. Gus Leimkuhler and Miss Mildred Fulton, our drama coach. Mrs. Jean Anderson has most recently added her name to the list. ' 1 ' So it is with great pride in the accomplishments of NKC's year- books and the loyal participants in the past staffs that we of the 1977 Purgoldstaff, dedicate this page to the yearbook's golden anniver- sary. You've comea long way, baby. ,-
