XS A-4' As the fiddler plays on, Tevye explains the importance of tradition to the audience. Fiddler overflows with joy and sadness Fiddler on the Roof, a recent Broadway hit musical, was chosen as the 1976 musical production at North Kansas City. Over 500 students were involved in the making of the show, which was presented on April 28, 29, 30 and May 1 and 2. This was the first time five performances of a musical were presented. Set in Anatevka, a small Russian village, the story centered around Tevye, a dairyman, and the marriages of three of his five daughters,,Tzeitel, Hodel and Chava. By tradition, Yente the matchmaker, would find husbands for the young ladies of the village, but much to Tevye's dismay the three eldest daughters found matches of their own. Mr. Shannon jones designed the artwork and sets, vocal music and drama students did the actual construction and painting. Mr. Bill Klein volunteered his services to teach the actors the correct jewish dialect.
