y' This year's business department introduced students to the many chal- l ll 1 . . . i lenges awaiting them through such courses as data processing, typing, secre- 55 tarial practice, bookkeeping, and others. Several field trips to area businesses li .l Karen Williams Woodson Moore l also provided students a first-hand look at businesses today. il . . - , The departments newest addition, data processing, attacked formidable E problems in the 1970-71 school year. A keypunch machine, previously furnished ff by National Bellas Hess, was not available this year. However, projects such ll as student I.D. card filing and distribution proved to be an excellent substitute lil and a rewarding experience. . , W1 , ., Charles DeAngelo joe Grace jerry Sutton NKC's continuing interest in expanding the scope of its educational responsi- bilities was reflected in the C.O.E. program this year. The cooperative occupa- tional education department offered students the chance to experience on-the-job training. At the same time, students prepared for a career in addition to earning a possible two units of high school credit. The new school year found Mr. DeAngelo as the new head of the distributive education branch of C.O.E. which focused upon retailing. The office occupation branch, headed by Mr. Grace, involved training in bookkeeping and other related A areas. Mr. Sutton directed the trade and industrial occupations branch, covering health careers, mechanics, and public services. C.O.E.
