The purpose of Drama and Debate was to teach the use of the body and the voice in the complex art of communication. Students in Drama I attempted to gain theater technique in duet acting, poetry reading, readers theater, dramatic and humorous interpretation as novice debaters endeavored to increase forsensic skills in extempt, oratory, and debate. Those who excelled participated in interschool competition. In November, Northtown sponsored its own tournament. Cha Students Live French, Spanish, And German With four levels of French and German, and five levels of Spanish, foreign language students explored the cultures and languages of people distant and unfamiliar to many at NKC. The courses involved more than just learning to speak the three languages. Rather, it was also a matter of learning to think and live French, German, or Spanish. With the basics out of the way, accelerated classes learned to experience, in the native literature, the moods and attitudes of a foreign nation's people. jo Alyce Kaplan LVaJmeiz5ta',d ly D lg 'ly Kathleen Hendricks john Yount 1 u ujprec It emu mr U
