--n-nav-4 ' Miss Mabel Hale '1fUorL in .SJIQQQCA .fdncl legafe wind 1963 !9urg0!6! During her years at North Kansas City High School, this year's honoree has been highly instru- mental in bringing to our school new prestige, added honors, and bright trophies by the excellent participa- tion of her students in national, state, and local debate and speech tournaments. Besides guiding her proteges in these endeavors, she has directed class plays, served as class sponsor, been active in professional teachers' organizations, and sponsored a local chapter of the National Forensic League, as well as the Debate Club. All of this has been in addition to the classes she has taught in English, speech, and debate, and the many week-ends spent on debate trips. So for her quiet, unassuming manner, her fourteen years of sincere devotion to the teaching of her students, and for her outstanding work in the field of speech and debate, we, the Senior Class of the North Kansas City High School, do proudly dedicate this, the 1963 Pur- gold, to you, Miss Mabel Hale.

,af ffl Z We Hornets were very proud to have been hosts to the sweet and lovely Lisbet Krane from Mo i Rana, Norway, for the past school year. She has lived in the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. McCann and their daughter Marilyn. Lisbet has spent a year filled with activity, she worked on the 1963 Purgold, cheered as a member of the Pep Club, and served as a member of both Student Council and Y-Teens. She has brightened many a day for her fellow-Hornets with her winning smile and warm personality and has had little time to become homesick for her parents, 15 year old brother, and her dog back home.
