Dedication During her seventeen years as a member ot the North Kansas City High School faculty, Miss Dorothy Barnett has served as a teacher ot English, citizenship, and American History, as a sponsor of Y-Teens, and as an advisor tor National Honor Society. Because of her vast knowledge ot history, the students in her classes have been imbued with a deep awareness for facts and events that have shaped our country, This, in turn, has led them to a deeper appreciation ot their native America. lt is with great respect and admiration that the senior class dedicates the i959 Purgold to Miss Barnett.
Foreword Our high school is, to the sophomore, the beginning of a new way of life .... confusing, perhaps even a little frightening, until you become a part of it, and it a part of you, to the junior, a whirlwind of activity, intell- ectual and otherwise, that often obscures the outside world, and, to the senior, a strange combination of the beginning and the end. But to the stud- ent body as a whole, Northtown is its people, their hopes, ambitions, prob- lems .... in fact, their very lives. We, the staff of the l959 Purgold, hope that you enjoy our pictorial review of the past school year.
