That was our Homecoming. We paraded through the streets of town so that the townspeople could see the bevy of beauties who were vying for the title of 1956 Homecoming Queen. Then we had our pep assembly in the stadium. The field of candidates was narrowed to eight, and the team was given the go ahead signal to beat Lafayette! That night, at half- time, Queen Dixie was crowned, and we all cheered. She was later honored at a very fancy Homecom- ing shin-dig. P. S. We won the game too. Those dimples pulled in a lot cf votes.
