P1 scor Summary Southeast-The Hornets and a strong Knight eleven battled up and down the gridiron for the full 48 minutes with neither team being able to score. The game ended in a O to O tie. St. Ioseph Benton-Failing to score in the first half when they were deep in Cardinal territory, the Hornets lost by a score of 13 to 0 when Benton pushed over two touchdowns, one on line plunges and one after they intercepted a North- town pass. Liberty--North Kansas City really ran wild in this one with Sutton, Overfelt, Powell, Gieske, Highfill, and D. Klein all scoring to make the final score read: Hornets 45, Bluejays O. William Chrisman--During the first half the Bears scored two touchdowns and a conversion to lead 13 to O, but when the Hornets took the field for the second half they showed the power they really had. Dawson ran a Chrisman punt back for a touchdown and Highfill converted. The Purple and Gold team fought its way to the goal line three more times, but lost the ball on fumbles. The final score Was Chrisman 13, N. K. C. 7, but Northtown had won a moral victory. Pembroke Country Day-The Red Raiders were able to score early in the game but failed to hold their lead as Over- felt swept across the goal line three times and Talbert once to bring about a Hornet victory by a score of 27 to 13. Rockhurst-The Hornets lost a hard game to the Hawklets 27 to 12 with Canaday and Powell making Northtown's touchdowns. St. Ioe Lafayette-Northtown met a fast, shifty team in the Shamrocl-as but came through to win 19 to 7. McCully scored once on a line plunge, and Overfelt twice on end runs. Wentworth-Sixty-five Hornets saw action in this fast game with the Cadets. Canaday scored on the first play after the kickoff on a sleeper pass from Goodpasture. Overfelt, Sutt- ton, and Kidd also tallied for Northtown. The final score was: N. K. C., 347 Wentworth, 20. Columbia-Northtown scored first but was unable to stop the passing attack of the Kewpies. Sutton, Overfelt, and Canaday each crossed into pay-dirt for the Hornets Gnd hfld the ball on Columbia's ll-yard line when the game ended, but the Kewpies were on the long end of the 25 to 19 score. This game ended the season for the Hornets who had 4 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie. Athlet1c Managers Left to Right Don Miller David Rapp l-toward Pamte l l t ' - ' ' v- , ' 1 ' A Y' - 1 4 - -vf.. This record is made even more ex- 1 ceptional due to the fact that they played many very strong teams. Very few teams in the history of the school have records that even come close to theirs. Their fine spirit, height, and abil- ity were the major factors in their successes. Coach Clark E. Ferguson, in his first year as head basketball mentor, should be high- ly commended for his accomplishments. Dec. Dec. Dec. Dec. Dec. Dec. Dec. Dec. Dec. Dec. lan. Ian. Ian. Ian. Ian. Ian. Ian. Ian. December saw on the 4th the banquet given by the Pep Squad for the football boys. NOTE: To determine the Weather, after arriving at school, see Miss Barnett, Every time she is found wearing open-toed shoes it is a certain sign of SNOW. After enjoying' the Christmas assembly on the 20th, our vacation began on De- cember 2lst for all teachers and students. Hearing that ole bell at eight o'cloclc is very dis- turbing, especially after sleeping' till ten for a week. The program, which was to be given by the Chorus and Band just before Christ- mas, was presented Sunday afternoon, Ianuary 13. Have you peeked backstage recently? Masque and Gavel members have just repainted the dressing rooms. Along with a new coat of paint' on the walls, Bar- bara McKeehan, Iackie Brechin, and Pat Dougan's shoes have a new tint. Basketball victories are the thing this season. All of the following were for us: Benton, Glennon, Lafayette, Rock- hurst, Chrisman, Liberty, and Southeast. X 15th Interest aroused by the Russian Ballet hit a new high in attendance. The fact that' all attending got a half day off had nothing to do with it, naturally. 1 17th The Student Council Assembly brought something out in the Barber Shop Quar- tet that had never been seen before. This was the first program of its kind to judge the ability of talent in the classes. Every dog has his day and today was the freshman's, for the lowly freshman class reigned as winners of the contest.
