September 21 Beverly Ritter takes the Girl's Reserves helm for the year 1944 and 1945 in the First' Gr. meeting of the year. And Bob Cook becomes President of Hi-Y. September 22 Ray! Ray! Ray! The Hornets beat Southeast 20 to 7 in the first game of the year, on the Hornets' Grid-iron. October 9 Five lovely ladies from the University of Missouri pre- sent the Victory Quintet. October 13 Beat on our own homeground by William Chrisman 14 to 12, the spirits of the Hornets is not downed as Queenie Earline Brown is crowned Homecoming Queen at the half. Attendents were Brooks, Donaldson, Hart- man, and Ritter. October 20 With the taste of victory the Hornets down St. loe Cen- tral, 26 to 0. October Z1 Over 1,000 persons attended the outdoor Festival pre- sented by the Senior Class. October 27 Rockhurst' bows before the mighty Hornets, 12 to 6. October 31 James Gheen, humorist, held student body spellbound by his talk on American youth. November 2 Girl Reserves and Hi-Y have joint meeting in order to hear Dr. Allien Bassett who spoke on political condi- tions in the Far East. Dr. Bassett returned from the Far East on the Gripsholm. November 11 The handsome Hi-Y boys entertain the lovely Girl Reserves in the Hornets Nest. November 17 The Hornets finish up their successful football season by beating Excelsior Springs, 68 to 7. November 27 Those Pep Girls from the Pep Squad throw a party in the Hornets Nest. Girl Reserves and Hi-Y meetings in the morningg and the Band Party at night. Wheel What a day. December 1 Food, Food, Food, and more food as the football ban- quet progresses with the Pep Squad acting as waitresses. Boy, were they pretty! December 4 Dr. Buehler talked on Patriotic America in assembly this morning. V December 15 Excelsior Springs Basketball Tournament played on Excelsior's court turned out a victory for the Hornets. December 22 CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS BEGAN FROM DECEMBER 22 TO IANUARY 2. lanuary 9 lack Rankin, one man theater, presents MacBeth. One of the best assemblies of the year. f Ianuary 1 5 Owl Staff presents the Owl Queen candidates for the 1945 Owl. Ianuary 19 Scratches galore as the Hornets ccme out victorious against William Chrisman, 28 to 23. Ianuary 30 Northtown meets Excelsior on Excelsior's own court with the Hornets the victor, 35 to 21. February 1 Spring Fever hit Northtown' when the Iuniors presented Spring Green, with Beverly Miller as Queen. February 8 G. A. A. presents Little Lulu in the assembly this morning. February 9 Northtown sinks Manual by two points. Northtown 28, Manual 26. February 17 For the second time Rockhurst took a beating from Northtown on the Hornets' court, 43 to 31. February 22 Girl Reserves Variety with Bob Coleman, Charles Fisher, and Bob Cook standing out as the lovely ladies of the show. February 23 Northown rejoices over their victory of Glennon, Chris- man, and De La Salle to become Sub-Regional winners. March 2 Rosemary Pennington looking lovely as she is crowned Owl Queen, with Roy Bender as her escort. Her attend- ants and their escorts were Betty lean Brooks, Buzz Barnes: Arlene Donaldson, Bob Raines, Beverly Ritter, Bob Cook, and Mary lane Conway, Charles Fisher. March 9 The Girl Reserves throw a bang out party for the Hi-Y. March 13 First Senior Guidance Meeting for the Seniors. March 21 Ben Hammond cartoonist, viges an assembly program at 9:50 this morning. March 22 and 23 Chorus Classes presents Rio Rico an exciting operetta about gold, and pirates. April 1 All those groans are from the N Club boys as the old members go to work on them. Ugh! Dust. April 12 and 13 A It's the smell of grease paint and make-up as the Sen- ior Class gives Best Fcot Forward. April 27 My dear, look at her dress. Don't you think it's dar- ling. Of course, you have guessed! The Iunior Senior X Prom. May 3 Mystery, chills, and terror, as the Masque and Gavel present a mystery show. May 10 New plans for the coming year of 1945 and 1946 are discussed in Girl Reserves and Hi-Y meeting this morn- ing. May 13 Seniors have their Baccalaureate Service. May 18 Freedom for the Seniors and three months leisure for the Under Class men. Otherwise, Graduation. .. I8..
