K9 Page Four THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH - Comedy-Pathos- Color- Excitement. The first signal bell rings and the performers enter the arena--Floodlights pour brilliance into the rings-A great roar goes up - The show is on - The band blares - Jaunty clowns jostle their way through the crowds. The more daring per- formers start to climb the lofty canvas heights while others remain earth-bound to break through the shining circles. As one troupe retires to the side-lines, another steps forward. In the spotlights, the high-hatted ring masters prance about, waving their whips with harmless hauteur as they direct and weave harmony into the big show. Every act-Every member-Every performer contributes something-And they all combine to make the greatest show on earth-Product of the past-Mirror of the present-Seed of the future. Prin- cipals, Advisors, and teachers, alike, are genial, human, and wise. They stand at the side of the arena calling bravos and words of encouragement to the performers in the center of the rings. The whip they crack is one of understanding and inspiration to every Husky in finding his or her place in the world. Y wtf' 'lf za' Y 'Q 'fi 'Lf V xg: Wm Worman mcoaoc! Mr. Norman McLeod, 'Boys' Vice Principal, holds the respect and esteem of the whole student body even though his immediate concern is with the problems and activities of the boys on campus. Great credit is due Mr. McLeod who, by the cour- age of his convictions and a thorough understand- ing of young men, can face situations with never- failing serenity. He is admired not only for his sincerity of purpose, but also for his genial man- ner and frendly as well as sympathetic interest in the student as an individual. Page Eight M. .7!zere:5a, in ri It is hard to believe that Mrs. Theresa jinks, Girls' Vice Principal, only came to Bingville last September. In this one short year, she has endeared herself to every girl at North Hollywood High School. The great need for a friendly spirit and a warm heart to help each girl in finding her particular path amid the stress and turmoil of campus life is graciously met by our new Girls' Vice Principal. All school activities are assured of an enthusiastic supporter, and every girl is assured of a loving friend in the person of Mrs. -links. f .. -'S 'xmoj ll l ' 1 1' gf . i t , , ' ' .7 -, -I -I s AX , faint j x I 17- .',, I x I' Ill' I, 1 A' 'l ' 3'4- m. yarn Qi ,,,, With many worthy years of academic service to North Hollywood High School behind him, Mr. John G. Fox has once again administered this school through an- other year most successfully. He has shown himself to be an able and fair judge of all student problems. Through wise leadership, he has won the esteem of the entire faculty. He has encouraged widespread interest in school spirit and growth. North Hollywood High School has been greatly benefited by his enthusiastic leader- ship. Genial, humorous, understanding, Mr. Fox has made many seniors feel for- tunate for the opportunity of counting him as a friend and advisor during their three years at Bingville. Each has something new and different to offer. Admission is only desire and interest. North Hollywood High School has many organizations-worthwhile additions to edu- cation. Latent talents and ambitions are brought forth through these groups. The annual staff has attempted to capture this show in the pages of this year- book with glimpses of the varied activities which make up high school life. The El Camino was fortunate this year in securing the services of a group of enthusiastic and hard-working students who contributed their efforts to the success of the book. The annual serves as a record of events, achievements, and personalities of high school life. To each student at Bingville, the El Camino becomes a treasure of valuable memories of happy days and friendships. .A if 7 -7 Hin DWI u Editor-in-Chief S'55 Mr. D. A. The rest of the team was made up of green 10th graders. In their first game the Pups met the Toilers of Manual Arts. The game was filled with fumbles and mistakes by both teams. Ronnie Brand was outstanding for the Huskies. At the final gun the score was 19 to 0 in favor of Manual Arts. In the second game of the pre-league season North Hollywood battled the Jefferson Democrats. In the first two minutes of play the Huskies fumbled on their own 20. The Democrats recovered and pushed the ball over for 6. The point after the touchdown was good. Throughout the rest of the game the jeffersonians never reached Huskie territory due to the outstanding defensive playing by the North Hollywood team. The game ended with jef- ferson winning 7 to 0. North Hollywood Bees were ambushed by the Indians of John 'Burroughs at Bingville in the Pups' third game of the year. The Pups couldn't seem to make any yardage against the more experienced Burroughs Tribe. It was dur- ing this game that Mark Millard showed outstanding abil- ity in the fullback slot. Millard's fine running and the good job of quarterbacking by Bill Severn wasnlt enough. The Indians scalped the Huskies 19 to 6. Traveling to Birmingham for the first league game the Bees rolled over the Braves 20 to 0. For the first time the Bees looked like a well oiled machine. Rick Warren and Vern Cleva played outstanding ball each catching several passes. Playing both offense and defense Al Harding and Louie Morales were the power in the center of the Huskie line. Page Eighty-eight The defending Valley champs, San Fernando, traveled to the 'Bingville campus with an undefeated record. This was an important game for the Huskies. It was a hard fought game with the Huskies finally winning the game 8 to 6. Gary Esienburg ran well from halfback slot. Tony Collie and Tim Elbourne traded off at center and did an outstanding job pluging up the center of the line. The Huskie lightweights clashed with the Sheiks from Hollywood and when the cloud of dust had cleared the Pups left for home with a 26 to 2 victory. Mickey Alzola was the outstanding player of the game, after throwing a perfect 35 yard pass for a T.D. The Pups' defense played top ball, On the day of the League deciding Van Nuys-North Hollywood Tilt, the wind was blowing a gale. The game was completely held to the ground. Van Nuys kicked off, and the ball soared over the Chandler fence. The game was a close one, with the Championship-bound Wolves winning 7 to O. Playing outstanding defense was Jim Mass and jim jones, on offense, Sonny Cibene and Scotty Matto. In the final game of the '55 season, the Huskie Pups met the Hunters from Canoga Park. A pass from Severn to Perry on the first play of the game started the game rolling with a 27 yard gain. Perry played outstanding ball both on offense and defense, averaging 11 yards per carry in 15 carries. The Bees finished the game in line style ship- ping the Hunters 19 to 0. The Huskies finished the sea- son with a second place. It was the best Bee season in the last 10 years. ry.. fv , 'L K gn A -1 7 - 2 pn RALLY GIRLS: Front row-Parsons, McGuigan, Wilder. The power lineup of the team starts with Ronnie Brand, John Hadraha, Fred Towe and Tom Shields who have all been hitting well.
