Student participation in governing North has long been an ideal. This year it became an actuality. The members of the Student Council, elected by the student body and repre- senting all groups, aid in deciding upon new policies forthe school, in instigating desirable activities, and in representing the average student's point of view in the government of the school. The council endeavors to give to North the service that will help advance and be to the interest of our student body. A few of the problems the Student Council has tackled this year are the lunch room situation, stealing of books throughout the school, drafting of a new Constitution, spring elections, and the election of cheer leaders. lt is the wish and the will of every member of the Student Council and our sponsor, Mr. A. j. Nlartz, who took over the sponsorship when Nlr. XV. C. Borst was forced to resign because of his many executive duties, to establish a good foun- dation for the most potential and indispensable organization in the entire school. The council will be a success, however, only if the entire student body stands P rex 1.11, 1' Il I behind it. I5
