Varsity Cross Country Has Good Year This year's Varsity Cross Country team had a good and a bad year. First they had some very good showings against Cen- tennial and West but bad showings against league leading Palos Verdes and Rolling Hills. Some good things that came out was Tony Guerra became the number one sophomore cross country runner. So the Saxons can look forward to some good seasons ahead. Coach Don Kalmar can look for- ward to some better years in the future. Other stars this year were Rocky Garza, Greg Stancl, Dennis Oshizaki, and Arvin Smylie. They ended their season with a 2-6 record but the first year was an impressive one. They lost their first game to a good Fountain Valley team but upset the always tough Lakewood team. He was also very successful in every other race. The Sophomore star was Tony Guerra who won every- thing in sight including the Bay League championship.
