Go Hand-in-Hand ln lndustrial Arts courses, students were taught technical skills requir- ing the use of their hands. Training varied from woodshop to car me- chanics which enabled students to obtain the necessary experience in handling machines for various vo- cational trades. Besides working with machines, the Industrial Arts Department included drafting. Students found drafting to expand new horizons into the world of architecture and civil en- gineering. The technical arts class was a popular course for students aimed towards a vocation in archi- tecture. Mrs. Evangeline Crews Tailoring Dressmaking Techniques Mrs. loan Fabregue Child Care Clothing Skills Skilled and imble Fingers The activities of family life were stressed in Home Economics classes this year. Students were instructed on new ways to improve personal and family livings styles inthe home. Scheduled activities included sev- eral luncheons, a cake decorating contest, a pumpkin carving con- test, and a fashion show this year. Among the additions made in the Home Economics Department was a child care class in which students earned to work with young chil- dren and infants. Eng. as a second Language Special Education: Helping Them Help Themselves Visual Aids Help for those limited in their abil- ities as a result of physical or mental handicaps was found in the Special Education Department. ln spite of each of their particular hindrances, students attained the bounds of their abilities with aid from their in- structors. The students benefited a great deal from individualized in- struction. The program included ex- cursions to places such as Olvera Street, museums, and other places of attraction.
