Among these courses are music, art, and drama to which the latest addition is photog- raphy. This year, the drama section inaugurated the Nickel Theatre on Saxon Stage once a week. For a minimal admission 45:1 the students could bring their lunches and watch a half hour of delightful entertain- ment varying from classical plays to cornball melodrama. The major purpose for which the business courses were geared for was to repare students for initial employ- ment and perhaps their future liveli- hood. lnstructors worked towards individualizing the business pro- gram and to meet the unique re- quirements of each student. One special opportunity opened to North High students this year was a Retail Sales class that was held at nearby Del Amo Fashion Square. This gave students first-hand ex- perience at retail selling. Students were instructed on new ways to improve personal and family livings styles inthe home. Scheduled activities included sev- eral luncheons, a cake decorating contest, a pumpkin carving con- test, and a fashion show this year. Among the additions made in the Home Economics Department was a child care class in which students earned to work with young chil- dren and infants.
