Latin Club Visits the j.P. Getty Villa I 1 l Although the Latin Club is not one of the larger clubs on campus, it is one of the most active, Latin Club is an all-year-'round club, largely due to its association with the lunior Classical League. In the summer several members par- ticipated in the National JCL convention held this year at the Claremont Colleges. There the students received a standing ovation by their fellow delegates for an outstanding job in putting on the Roman Banquet. In the fall under the leadership of President Cyndi Campbell, club members held their annual Saturnalia. Latin students visited the newly opened I. Paul Getty Villa in january, and made several visits to UCLA to attend various plays and lectures pertaining to Greek and Roman literature. Meanwhile, stu- dents were busy attending to housing matters for one upcoming state convention in March, as Housing Chairman. At Gardena High, students became enthusiastically involved and won several honors at the State Convention. Club ac- tivities include an open house, emphasizing the feasts of Ceres and the rites of spring. The Spring Roman Banquet with all the pomp and splendor of ancient Rome and to complete the calendar some members plan to attend the next National Convention in New Hampshire during the summer.
