Corky Wynck. Victor Barbosa. Tom Olson. Coacti Berry Gross. Successful Saxon Season The Bee basketball team finished the 1972 season with an overall record of fourteen wins and ten losses. This was good enough to capture another Bay League Title for a Saxon team. The team, mostly composed of sopho- more players, always supplied an exciting game for the spectator. The team was well supplied in both talent and depth. Among the most outstanding players were Bill Atkins, Victor Barbosa. Ron Tomich, and Mark Wellborn. It ' s excellent coaching was supplied by Coach Gross. The Freshman Basketball Team had an overall record of seventeen wins and seven losses at the close of the 1972 season. The team was in contention for the Bay League Title until their record setting starter Bruce Mil- ler missed the last four games of the season due to ill- ness. Other outstanding contributions to the team were made by Steve Trunkett and Dan Souza. Glen Farley led the team in rebounding, and Richard Jew in Scoring. This year ' s Freshman team was one of North High ' s finest, and shows great potential for a future m varsity competition. Gee Basketball; ROW 1-Bob Diaz. Danny Souza. Richard Jew. Bill Goddard, Glen Nakagawa. North High ' s J.V. ' s succeeded m obtaining Veron Rosso first J.V. Bay League title. In doing so, their league record for this years season was 9-1. Their over all record was 18-6. This year seemed to be the most out- standing year the J.V. cagers had. We always came through when we had to as a team, commented Coach Ross about his team. Leading in the scoring for the Saxons were Tim O ' Neill, a transfer from Serra, E.J. Mercereau, Glen Nakagawa, and Larry Compton. K.C. Keller, only a sophomore on the squad, led the team in rebounding. Also putting points on the score board were Larry Gizzi and Craig Young. Komada, Craig Young, K.C. Keller. This 1972-73 year marked only the second competetive season for the North High Soccer team. The young Varsity team finished fourth out of the entire Bay League. The relatively inexperienced team proved their skills when they pulled off a sur- prising upset against top-rated South High. The head coach was Mr. Lynn Brooks and working along side him was Mr. Ditter Schultz. Among some of the outstanding Varsity players were Walt Leisner, Mike Tomich, and Paul Lewis. The Junior Varsity was also coached by Mr. Brooks and finished the season in third place. Some of the outstanding members of this team included Earl Hon, Stu- art Mitchell and Randy Lawrence. Both of these teams showed a prom- ising future for the NHS Soccor League. ROW 1; Coach Lynn Brooks. Coach Ditter Schultz ROW 2: Danny Archuleta.
