Steve Rankin, Jim Thurn. Coach-Bierley. Varsity Defends League Title The basketball season for the varsity was rather dis- s» ; appointing with the Saxons taking second place in the league. The season was decided in the final league game when Santa Monica High won a close decision. Still the Saxons were in the CIF playoffs for the ; fourth time in the last four years and the ninth time in the last ten. J.V. Cagers Take Bay League Crown. LEFT TO RIGHT-Walter Yogi. Gieg Porter, Mdno Rodriguez. Larry Gizzi. E.J. Mercereau. Mark Headley, Richard Amano. Larry Compton, Tim O ' Neill, Jim Enge. Bill Goddard, Glen Nakagawa. North High ' s J.V. ' s succeeded m obtaining Veron Rosso first J.V. Bay League title. In doing so, their league record for this years season was 9-1. Their over all record was 18-6. This year seemed to be the most out- standing year the J.V. cagers had. We always came through when we had to as a team, commented Coach Ross about his team. Leading in the scoring for the Saxons were Tim O ' Neill, a transfer from Serra, E.J. Mercereau, Glen Nakagawa, and Larry Compton. K.C. Keller, only a sophomore on the squad, led the team in rebounding. Also putting points on the score board were Larry Gizzi and Craig Young. Komada, Craig Young, K.C. Keller.
