V Saxons hit tor another gain. Bid for Bay League Falls Short This year ' s Varsity Football team ' s goal was to repeat as the Bay League champions. The team ' s bid for the title fell short as they tied for second place. North ended up with a three win-two loss record in league and a four win-five loss record overall. Six Saxons gained recognition as being the best m the league by being selected on the 1972 All Bay League Team. Tackle Bob Francis, defensive guard Casey Jaworski. and kicker Wally Leistner made Bay League First Team. Selected to Bay League Second Team were de- fensive back Eddie Marr, running back Ed Bowen, and linebacker Matt Kobe. These six selections were more than any other school had. This year ' s football team was coached by Jim O ' Brien with the assistance of Bill Cunerty, Steve Schmitz, and Rick Francis. A lot of work went into the making of this team and it paid off in the end. Leistner tacks on another three North scrambles for loose ball. Ed Bowen drives on to crucial first down. 51
