, i » ♦ - A Night to Remember On Dec. 2nd, Nights and White Stain was presented to NHS by the Girls League. The result of frantic meetings, it turned out to be one of the most suc- cessful winter formals in years. Held on a wintry Saturday night, the event was a setting of 150 couples amid soft lights, silver stars, and fragrant pine. Music was provided by the 10- piece band, The U.N. , which played popular and original tunes. An exciting moment came when couple Mary Cur- tain and Pete Trevino were announced as the king and queen of the dance. %, ■ . Student Center- New at North High K New to North High this year was the Student Center found in Room 111. The Student Center was one of the more recent and significant actions made by the 1973 Student Council. Open at almost any time of the school day, the Center offers a place for students to go in their spare moments to enjoy a game of pool, listen to the lastest songs, or even watch television while munching on a favorite snack bought from the vending machines. All the money that the Student Center re- ceived went right back into the room to buy better and more fun facilities. From the outset the Center proved to be successful and popular with students and teach- ers alike. The Center has been instrumental in keeping wandermg students off the quad. Another major prob- lem of littering has been alleviated somewhat by the Student Center. The recreation room proved to be a welcome change in North High life to all students. Since it was initiated in January at the beginning of the semester, it has been the meeting place at snack, lunches and free class time of all different types of people. It was a place where Saxons met to talk, laugh and have a good time. Student Activities Advisor, Miss Montgomery is quite pleased with the efforts of the entire student body in making the Center a success. 36 The television was a leadingattraction.
