When this story was written, five records had already been tied or broken, with some meets still left in the season. Heading the list of record holders is Pat Lininger, who set a new Varsity 440 standard with a time of 50.8 seconds, Lininger already holds records in both the Varsity 100 and 220 dashes. Jerry Eiland broke the tape on the 120-yard high hurdles in 16.8 seconds, bet- tering the year-old mark of Mike Kirkpatrick by four tenths of a second. Senior 880 man Don Woods finished his race in a record-breaking time of 2:05.l. Sophomore Ron Doyle set a new standard in the mile with a time of 41488. The Varsity 880 relay record fell to Ron Davis, Jim Laird, Bob Moore, and Pat Lininger with a time of l:39.9. On the verge of breaking both the Varsity broad-jump and shot-put is Senior Jim Laird. In the Bee class Bob Moore tied the record for l00-yard dash with a l0.6 iaunt. Coach Bill Ellings expects many of the remaining records to be broken before the season is ended, including the i320 with Ike Wilson, and the Bee broad-iump and pole-vault with Ted Bluechel. Roy Dohner has a good chance to better the low- hurdle mark before the season is ended.
