Our seniors are dressed up to share fun galore While 10B,s stand bug-eyed of what's in store. There's Student Activity Tickets to buy If you want to see the game with Boone High. A big jamboree for Football is king. All Hail to our heroes we polar cubs sing. The 0racle's out and around it we flutter, We play the Techniciansg and, my, how they sputter Then Lincoln, and Roosevelt, West Waterloo, Fall Festival Dance, with alumni so true. Color Day, frolics, each room,s in a blaze, Then teachers' convention, but they're in a daze. We play dear old East-now let's skip all the rest. The school play is Crichton and one of the best. Thanksgiving vacation, well basketball's here! It's Ankeny losing, we don't shed a tear. The Seniors have potluck, and what do you know? We beat the great Dowling, aha and oh, oh! A hot chili supper, then Christmas vacations With parties and presents and-other vocations. Oh, well, back to school and the Prom with its cheer, Corsages, and tuxes, and taxisf?j, my dear. The Seniors, a banquet, they stride down the hall In their regal togas and mortar boards all. They're gone, one more class is away to the world But there's always another to come and be whirled. The Seniors dress up as another group starts, Assumes all the duties, to play all their parts. There's basketball, swimming, and talk in the hall, Societas Romana, Sub Deb and all. Circulo Espanol and more by the score To teach you and fill you with odd bits of lore. W e're playing with East on a basketball court, We're wrestling with East on a mat of a sort. I t's Fort Dodge and Lincoln, we're wrestling still With basketball tourneys to round out the bill. We have Open House with our parents at school .V To find out the low down K but we've played it cool 1. All in their togas-with slaves, so we,re told A real Roman banquefs a sight to behold. Fun Night and the fellows wear gowns from Paree I tell you it's something, it's something to see! We,ve talent of all kinds-they put on a show In talent assembly. You've seen it? You know! Springtime vacation and Seniors potluck, But down at the relays the jackpot we struck. F lamingo's the school play, the Oracle's out, Now tennis and baseball- -with grass how they sprout. The Latins have picnics-the Seniors a party, They have a Prom too: now isn't that smarty? The yearbook is out--the end is in view, The Seniors, a banquet, and cap and gown, too. They get a diploma and leave us all, With echoing footsteps down the hall. 48 P student government EXEC TIVE BU HU 7-F' Left to riqht: loan Calwlraae, treasurer, lunior Dodd, vice president: Pete Bradford, president: GNJCG- lUt'lI1SOY1, St'CAIl?lUl'Y7 Mary lano Durkcee, htstorian, and Ellsworth Lory, adviser. The committees do everything from seeing to it that the lunchroom is kept clean, to planning and decorating for a spring dance. The clubs give a chance to many students to participate in extra-curricular activities. Work on both com- mittees and clubs gives the student a feeling of responsibility and a sense of pride, gained from helping the school. EITIZENSHIP EUMMITTEE The Citizenship Committee worked with the Council in stressing the school projects and also sponsored the annual friendship week. INC. 3522 6th Avenue ld by Jerry Johnston an 0 l M Sol yn E lcrheck 1sTo1uANs have a way of wrapping the past in a sparkling coat of glory that often casts a dullness on the present. Time, like distance, lends enchantment and the heroes and heroines of the history books take on new color with each passing year. The era itself, of a century ago or longer, sometimes seems to us to have embraced broader vistas of opportunity for greatness and fame. But when we pause to give it thought, we know this isn't true. There Will Always Ba a Frontier! We realize that frontiers aren't limited to wilderness and prairie and that the garb of the pioneer isn't limited to buckskin and calico. We realize that in a hundred different directions lie new worlds to dis- cover, new lands to explore. We realize that these new worlds and new lands lie hidden in the untrod depths of modern science, modern business and industry, and modern government . . . that these fields offer opportunities just as challenging and just as rewarding as any wildemess or any prairie. Then it is that we remark with the great man who once said, So little done, so much to do! So, equipped with the axe of knowledge and the powder hom of courage, the youth of today faces the horizon of the future-prepared to carve a place in it, determined to find a way, or make one! .mlm nuns Momma, lu..
