The POLAR BEAR JUNE, 1943 A Cappella Choir The A Cappella Choir consisting of about 50 voices has been kept quite busy this semester. At the begin ' ning of the semester they sang for a forum at the Shrine Auditorium. May 8 the combined choruses of North and East High sang over the radio for National Music Week. The program was over a nation-wide hook-up. June 6 they will sing for baccalaureate services and June 9 for commencement exercises at Roosevelt High School. Miss Ruth Rickards, director of the Choir, is versatile in her musical talent as she not only directs the vocal work and often accompanies these groups, but has re ' cently taken over direction of the Band and Orchestra.
