New Building Given To City This sunny day of 1963 has seen the dawninK of a new era in North HiKh ' s history. A new and modern buildinK has been constructed with a spacious campus of twenty- five acres adjoining it. Money for the new buildinK was donated by the banker and man of means. Dicky Morris. In an impressive openinK ceremony, si eeches will be rendered by local diKnitaries. The address of the eveninK will be that of General Lee Roy. Miss Jeanette Benfer. first lady principal of North, will be there to receive the Kood will of present students and from North HiKh alumni. Dick Lindley, instructor of music at North, will direct the North band playinK North HiKh and As We Go MarchinK . William Chapman will lead the sing- ing. Plans for the building were drawn up by the firm of architects. Ronald Rabinovitz. Ben Philippson, and Ernest Neve. Contractors were J. Wilmont Perkins. Robert E. Moriarity, and Ray M. Mc- Adam. Flash Fire Destroys Finch Warehouse Under the Klare of flood- liKhts and searchlight v. the warehouses of Franklyn Finch and Company burned in a blaze of glory . The warehouse was covered by insurance carried on the Bill Lancaster Insurance Com- pany. Fire Chief Stanley Oline said this wa the most dis- astrous fire in Des Moines hi story. Fireman Kenneth Wichman said in an inter- view that he thouKht the fire was a pretty hot spot . When the smoke had cleared away.
