The POLAR BEAR d| |m JUNE, 1943 Class Poem By Bill Fulton To North High School this poem is dedicated. North High — daily scene of a hundred tran- sient joys and sorrows, pulsed to and fro by the very hrarts of her students. May her glorious spirit and her rink and Green remain jorcrer as a guiding light for countless young lives, seeking their place under the sun. Forth, once again, From thy majestic halls, Pours the future of the race. The hopes, the dreams Of future years Meet the present, face to face. Thirty years It hath been so, And nearly thirty more. So be it ' till Thy walls collapse, Decayed to the core. On we marchl Into all the sorrow, joy, And duty that is life. Our bearing ' s proud, Our shoulders straight, Our backs are strong and firm. Our hearts dictate Of future years With love and freedom rife. Short days ago We dreamed that life, And now — we shall affirm! We ' re on our way, What to assay And whither, we know not. But, come what may, The roughest day Shall punish us for naught, For with us still Abides thy thrill — Great lessons thou hast taught. As ev ' ry class has — in the past — Regretted to take leave, So say we, Farewell to thee, Upon commencement eve. Now, dear friend, we leave. But in our souls remain the subtle lessons, gathered in these three, shirrt years As we face the future — forget, ue will not. Internally in our hearts shall ahide loyalty, hope, and faith in our alma mater — for we conquer new worlds in the name of the Polar Bear. The Class of June. 1943 Fifteen
