Boarding one of the Carroll Bradford planes we find Co-Pilots Homer McCutcheon and Rodney Mc- Connell and with them cute little Mary Blegelid as stewardess. Patty Ahrold, attomey-at-law: Marceline Carter, dentist: and Ieanne McKinley, doctor, are aboard. And isn't that the famous explorer, Bob Franco, with his little wife, the former Helen Yager? They just returned from the wilds of interior Africa where Bob rescued William Randolph. Bill had been kidnaped five years ago on an expedition sponsored by the R. M. Seibel Scientific Research Company. There's Marcella Page, famous girls' sports reporter on the Des Moines Register. Stopping in Chicago for an hour's rest and change of pilots, let's drop in at the famous lack Gable's cafe. If you peek into the kitchen you will see Don McMullin, the best chef east of the Pacific coast. But our hour is nearly up and we must hurry on or we'll miss our plane. Oh, there go Eugene Wright and Harold Maupin with their world-renowned swing band. On our way again we find that our new pilots are Fred Emerling and Darrell Porter. At last we land in New York and Taximan George Caudill, who is driving one of the Iohn Dawson Pur- ple Cabs, meets us and drives us to the Copeland fLawrence, of coursel Hotel where Doorman Theydon Brown assists us with our luggage. Behind the desk stands Manager I. Vernon Brad- ley, who signals to the three bellhops who won the New York Relays Uack Ross, Bob Pettit and Anthony Baileyl to carry our baggage up to our rooms. On the way to the rooms we pass the great ballet dancer, Marcia Lewis, and her secretary-companion, Mildred Workman. After dressing for dinner we make our way down to the main dining room where Dick Evans and his world-famous orchestra are playing. Featured as singers are Harriett Wenusl Bailey and Jimmie Grubb. Columnist Bob Ketman, well known for his famous Peek-a-Boo Column, hints that Harriett and Iimmie are secretly married. Oh, look at all the celebrities-Iames Lusk, the most popular leading man in Iollywood: Dan Wright, famous for his impersonations: Dan Keeney of the Keeney, Keeney, Keeney and Keeney millionaires: Harry fFe1ixJ Iohnson of the Iohnson and Swanson Spanish dancers: and Basil Karp, who has discov- ered after years of research the divisionary cells of HIIPHEEY the electron. Isn't that Patricia Kautz, author of Of Rats and Bats, with Mr. Karp? District Attomey Clyde Hartshorn, with his pretty secretary, Beverly Moses, is entering the room now, and there's the D. A.'s best detective, Mike tjust call me Ace l Koufer, with them as usual. I wonder where Marion Young and Walter Robinson are. Well, we'll be late for the party if we don't hurry: so we must be on our way. There's Play-boy Tommy Butterfield just ahead of us with Helen Allen, and there's her sister Doris with Bernard Burbank, famous for his new hit tune, Dear Little Blue Eyes. Ah, there's Mr. and Mrs. Damell just as cheerful as ever. They haven't changed at all in ten years, have they? Io Ann West, Evelyn Mumma and Theone Bassett, all of them world-famous artists, are in the receiving line, too. Why, Howard Price is playing here tonight. He must have sacrificed a lot of time and money to play for his old friend Rosa. , There's Iohnene Bessey, who was crowned the prettiest model in New York at the Artist's and Models' Ball. Kathryn Anderson is wearing one of her knee-length fonnals. You know she and loan Reece own the most exclusive women's apparel shop in New York City. Society editor of the Nu Hork Scribbles, Pauline Pomerantz, seems to be covering this story herself. Could that be Harriette Smuleson, the girl who poses for the Pinkbook covers, here with Henry Darlington, famous brain surgeon? Barbara Riley and Mildred Leiaan, both nurses, seem to have taken leave from You Hope to Live Hospital tonight to attend the party. Oh, there's Howard Raw, who designed the new North High building back in Des Moines. You know it has every modem convenience possible-soda fountains on all fourteen floors: overstuffed desks with footstools, escalators, and private rooms for the teachers so they won't disturb the pupils. Did you know a whole movie is shown every noon? Neal Balanoff, who majored in How to Skip School With- out Being Caught, is now principal of North. Here comes the President of the United States, Les- ter Barnes, with Vice President Clark Fifield, and the most important member of his cabinet, Bill Hayes, Secretary of Longer and Better Summer Vacations. Marilynn Whitmer, Pat Pederson and Ruth Chase, still the triumvirate, are here, too. Well, well, if that isn't Vivian Carlson, teacher of Latin, with Don Homs. Um, yum. food is going to be served now: so shall we eat?
