The G.S.C. sponsored a clothes drive for needy people this year. Q76 ' 52610136 This year's industrious Girls' Service Club has been an asset to our school and our cornrnunity. Many worthwhile activities were carefully planned and executed during the entire year. This group suc- cessfully sponsored a clothes drive which provided needy families with clothing. Soon after Christmas vacation the GSC began a Christmas card drive to bring useful activity to many handicapped and confined children. Also, the girls served at the football banquet in the fall. Kathy Strange, as president, led a busy, pro- ductive year with her many capable club members. Mrs. Robinson and Miss Nunes effectively guided the activities of the GSC this year as they have done in years past. E Mrs. Joy Robinson Advisor

Mr. Mark Blankenstein Bonnie Beebe Advisor Editor The Universe began an active and progressive iournalistic year under the guidance of Mr. Blankenstein and the editorship of Bonnie Beebe. Bonnie, a iunior, assumed the demanding duties of editor with charm and diligence. The principal sub-editors contributed a great deal to the suc- cess of the '59 Universe by their untiring efforts. Interest has so increased in iournalism at North High that a beginning class is to be inaugurated for next year. This undoubtedly will strengthen our entire journalism program. The lot of the high school iournalist is not a pleasant or easy one. In the face of trying circumstances the staff of the Universe has consistently produced a bi- monthly paper of sustained journalistic excellence.
