The main production of the year was the musical Fiddler on the Roof. This en- deavor proved to be a great success and re- flected the talent of the Drama Club members. 105 Exploration of individual creativity and en- couragement of the fine arts were the focal points of the Art Club. By visiting Reynolda House, SECCA and other art centers, the club was able to gain further insight into the art field. North benefitted greatly from their work in art shows and on bulletin boards. Coach Roy Huskins had nothing but praise for his players when the trophy was presented at one of the last football pep rallies. For the second year in a row the North Forsyth Vikings were success- ful in defeating R.I. Reynolds, cross town rival. This year's contest was a classic defensive struggle. The Vik- ings held off a last second rally, com- ing away with a celebrated 7-6 victo- ry. The Vikings advanced into the state play-offs where they suffered a disappointing loss to East Burke, thus ending hopes of another state cham- pionship. Big Sounds Come In Small Packages The North Forsyth Band did many things during the school year to promote school and community spirit. The band participated in the Carolina Street Scene, Winston- Salem State University Homecom- ing Parade, Holiday Festival Parade, and North Carolina State Band Contest. Several students also participated in the Northwest North Carolina Clinic Band at Boone. Band students also added their talents to football games, bas- ketball games, pep rallies, and the spring musical, "Fiddler on the Roof." Also, concerts were given at Christmas and in the spring. North Valkyries for 1978-79 played an active role in boosting school spirit at all sporting events this year. Participating at pep rallies, football games, and basketball games, the girls definitely had one of the most active years in their existence at North Forsyth. In one particu- lar pep rally, they displayed their great support for our athletes by presenting the football team with a trophy. They also performed for crowds of people in the Carolina Street Scene, the Christmas Parade, and the Frank Spencer Clas- sic. No players returned from last yearg therefore, an entirely different line-up was set for this year with only two seniors and five juniors. The season was definitely not a total loss be- cause every girl showed evidence of improve- ment. Nevertheless, this year's junior Varsity Cheerleaders have over- come this barrier and have gained a lot of experience and knowledge while doing so. During football season they helped develop spirit by sitting in the stands with the crowd. Also, they cheered with the Varsity Cheerleaders during Homecoming ceremonies.
