All the anxities of study and school life began to fade as the final days of school approached. To any senior these final days were the most important, and, to many, the saddest of their high school career. While underclassmen paced through final exams and activities, the senior class participated in the various phases involved in graduating. Cops and gowns ar- rived, plans for commencement speakers and pro- cedures were solidified, and rehearsals ensued. Under warm spring skies, students, faculty, and devoted par- ents and friends flocked to Memorial Coliseum for graduation ceremonies. With tassels swaying, the seniors marched into the Coliseum to the familiar strains of POMP AND CIR- CUMSTANCE. ln this, their last appearance as a unit- ed class, the seniors took a giant step forward and over the threshold of adult life. As each new graduate received his diploma, the immensity of this moment was intensified. With a firm handshake, Mr. Gibson wished them Godspeed, and 555 students stepped into a new and somewhat frightening adult world. Graduations means work for many seniors. Here Lynn Dowell ond Bettianne Moore prepare for the exercises to be held in the Coliseum. Seniors Lynn Dowell and Louise Curry admire their class rings. Memones of Student Life fade as commencement approaches
