The charter members of the North East Chapter, who were elected by the faculty council, were inducted into the society on October 15, 1958. The 12 charter members were Clifford Armour, John Lipsey, Elsa Latomaa, Kay Preston, Joyce Mil- ler, Linda Ashbridge, Beverly Phillips, Loretta Pickell, Mary Lou Huston, Elaine Puro, Helen Kallio, and Ruth Beldin, The charter sponsor was Mrs, Mary Jane Fogg. Since their induction these twelve members plus the six who were inducted on January 15, 1959, have been carrying on service projects for the school, Service, though, is only one side of the picture, They have to have good scholarship, a 4.00 average or better at all times, a good clean character, and be a leader of their class, club, or other group, The Student Council gave birth to the idea of an Honor Society about two years ago, At that time they appointed Ann MRS, MARY JANE FOGG Roush, class of '58, and Clifford Armour to draw up a consti- tution for this chapter. After many toiling hours the constitu- tion was completed and mailed to the executive secretary in Washington, D, C, lt was accepted and the charter granted. Even though the Honor Society is a new organization, it has taken its place among the cherished things in N. E.H.S. The Honor Society will be a long and cherished organization and an honor and asset to our school,
