Bello Jerry Milam Candy Castillo Judy Pellam Gayle- L s-rii iurrl Rachel Ramirez 'I Foreword: For North Dallas High School and all those personally involved in its growth, this year is an his- toric one. One in which a goal has been reached: 50th GRADUATE CLASS! We have come across many new faces in this year of 1972, and we hope that somehow those stu- dents have become a part of North Dallas High. There are times of happiness, times of sadness, times of victory, times of defeat, and most of all times of memories. In closing, we challenge each of you to proceed through the pages of this 50th Anniversary Issue of the VIKING, and, in doing, that may you recognize the significance of a most wonderful year - 1972! The students at North Dallas High hold a deep respect for her because of her concern and in- terest with them. Her loyalty for the school, as well as for the students, has grown in the past two years. She has encouraged us to work toward bettering ourselves and our surroundings. In the time she has been here, she has taught us the meaning of true sportsmanship and friendship. Because of her sin- cerity and understanding for the students and their problems, we have been able to create a better stu- dent-teacher relationship. . . . and so we the VIKING staff dedicate this book to a lady who herself is dedicated. The Bulldogs were hampered by mistakes on the first few possessions of the game but settled down to play a very good offensive and defensive game. The Bull- dogs first score came on a 1-yard run by quarterback Cecil Franklin. Fullback Bobby Garrett scored the second touch- down on a sweep around left end. The conversion was good for 2 points and the Bulldogs lead at halftime 14-7. The Bulldogs came back and opened a 13 point lead with touchdowns by Cecil Franklin and Michael Fanner. A beautifully intercepted pass by Robert Proctor ended the game as he ran the interception back for a touchdown to preserve a Bulldog Victory. Carl Williams carries against Kimball. 'I77 ND. - 0 W.W. - 14 The running game, led by Bobby Garrett, Marshall Chasney, and Michael Fan- - ner. went very smooth. The passing game was hurting due to either good coverage on the receivers by Wood- , row or poor pass blocking by the offensive line be- - cause QB Cecil Franklin - was dropped several times. The outstanding players of this game are the defensive linemen who dropped the Woodrow QB about five or six times for big losses and -pf' sf A ,t Q in w New e rv. The running game was led by Bobby Garrett, who seemed to be unstoppable. The offensive line was giving great pass blocking and was blocking well on run- ning plays, too. Percy Simmons shared the quarterback posi- tion with Cecil Franklin during the game. The' passing game was good as Percy Simmons, passes were on target but many of his passes were dropped. They led at the end of the first quarter by a score of 7-6. The team scored on a run by Bobby Garrett and Brandon Johnson added the extra point. The Lions scored their first touchdown after a bad punt gave them good field position. Then, the defensive secondary seemed to break down as each of Waco's next three touchdowns came on long passes and running plays. But that wasn't all. The offense was able to move but mistakes hurt the team. The final score Waco Moore 26, North Dallas 7. They had a 32-0 lead at halftimeg Wanda Butler was named Homecoming Queeng and there was the largest crowd this year on the ND side of the stadium to watch the Bulldogs play. This game was not just another game, it was the most important one. The Bulldogs scored on TD's by Robert Proctor, Bobby Garrett, Percy Simmons and Fred Cowans. Cecil Franklin added the extra points on two touchdowns. The Bulldogs came out for the second half with a desire to win but hiding in the shadows was the bad luck that has plagued them throughout the year. The final score was Roose- velt 34, ND 32.
