A great amount of interest was shown this year in intramural basketballg twentyfseven teams were entered by fraf ternities and other independent campus organizations, and because of the large number of teams, four brackets were formed. The competition was very stiff in each bracket due to the large number of independent teams. Eight teams competed in the playoffs. The HookfEmfCows defeated the McLean County All Stars, and Theta Chi defeated the ATCs in the semiffinals. This placed the HookfEmfCows and the Theta Chis together for the championf ship match. A mighty battle ensued which remained close till the final seconds of play. The HookfEmfCows nipped Theta Chi, 3867, to take the basketball crown. Freddy Trowbridge's timely long field goals coupled with Bill Gal' lagher's floor play proved to be too much for the Joy Boys. Whitey Turner and Bob Murrie played standout ball for Theta Chi. The HookfEmfCows are the second independent team in intramural history to take the trophy. They sue' ceeded the Privateers, last year's championship team. Ten confident teams put in their bid for the volleyball crowng the play consisted of a roundfrobin tournament. Going into the finals were the Kilroy Kids with a record of 9 wins and no defeats, Sigma Chi, Independent Students Association, and Kappa Sigma Chi all with a record of 6 victories and 3 defeats.
