9 FRONT ROW: Mrs. Clay Smith, William Toussaint, Mrs. Sidney Bjornson, Iim'Baccus. 9 SECOND ROW: Hal Stephanson Warner Littcn, Williain Guy, Carl Rorvig, G, Halbeisen. , LUMNI ASSCDCIATICD The NDAC Alumni and Former Student Association was able during 1947 to throw off its warftime shackles and begin its return as an effective organization. It employed an alumni director Jim Baccus, who also serves the college as public relations director, and office secretary, and a fullftime field organizer, Merle Nott, who was graduated at the close of the 1947 fall term. Mr. Nott, who began his duties February 1, 1948, was launched on the important task of organizing local alumni chapters in every county in the state and in the cities of the nation where former students reside. A I The board approved a move which transformed the Alumni Review Quarterly into a monthly newspaper, filled with upfto-thefminute news of interest to alumni. It aided in the purchase of new instruments for the Gold Star Band, launched a financial campaign on behalf of the Student Union, and in company with other schools di' rected a program recommending the passage of a mill levy bill to create' a state building fund. Mr. Baccus became a member of the American Alumni Council working with directors all over the nation for the general good of higher education. The reorganized board of directors is aware of its tremendous opportunity for service to NDAC and intends to strengthen its organization in every possible way. Baccus 21115 Note' 16

FORREST F. SKINN ER Secretary-Treasurer The office of secretarytreasurer is custodian of all college prop' erty, state appropriations, and federal allotments for the college, experiment station, and extension division. Various campus groups turn to him for their share of the stu' dent activity fee each term, and paychecks for all college employees are issued from this office. The college treasurer will be in charge of approximately 375 units of housing by the end of this fiscal year, as well as the student banking program with its 800 depositors. CARL H. SCHMIDT Director of Personnel The Department of Personnel is under contract with the Vet' erans' Administration to give all tests to veterans coming through Veterans' Advisement. For NDAC students is gives all placement tests and interprets them to the student and faculty as required. The two psychologists in the department are especially trained in counselling, and assist students in solving problems of adjustment. Students come of their own volition, or may be referred by any of the various deans. STAFFORD .ORD HL Veterans' Administrator This office's connection with the NDAC is primarily that of liaison between the Veterans' Administration, the college, and the veteran in attendance. In addition, it has certain supervisory functions relative to Public Law 16 and Public Law 346 veterans. A Public Law 16 veteran is one who is receiving compensaf tion due to a service connected wound, injury, or sickness. A Public Law 346 veteran is one who has received an entitlement to attend college by virtue of his having served in the armed services. Both groups of veterans come under the supervisory functions of this office.

We Library The college library offers the students and faculty members on the NDAC campus the full use of its collection of about 62,000 books. As acting librarian, Miss Alice L. Craig supervises the circulation of books to nearly 250 students who use the library each clay. Mrs. 0. H. Sellancl and Miss Helen L. Strasser, instructors in library usage, are also in charge of the Reserve Library and the order department. Student assistants in the library are Barbara Christensen, Jo Ann Herigstacl, Robert Howe, Rosemarie Lohse, Bertel Olson, Vernon Pepple, and Maryrose Redman.
