LPN GRADUATION Friday. April 15 was a highlight for 99 Practical Nursing students at NDSSS. Graduation excersises were held at 1:30 p.m. at Bute gymnasium. Dr. Lois Nelson. Associate Professor and Chairman of Nursing at North Dakota State University. Fargo, was commencement speaker. Donald Stevenson. Dean of Trades division. presented certificates following presentation of the candidates by Miss Betty Heldstab. Chairman of the NDSSS Practical Nursing Department. Vice President of Academic Affairs at NDSSS. James Horton, made introductions and announcements. A reception for the graduates and their families was held at the student center following the ceremony. The students completed a 25-week clinical affiliation at their choice of Jamestown Hospital. Dakota Hospital. Fargo: Good Samaritan Hospital. Rugby: St. Francis Hospital. Breckenridge; Dakota Midland Hospital. Aberdeen, SD; United Hospital. Grand Forks: St. Aloisius Hospital. Harvey: and St. Andreus Hospital. Bottineau. 22

GRADUATION 1,456 students from North Dakota State School of Science graduated on May 26. 1977 at 10:00 a.m. at Bute Gymnasium. The graduation class was the largest ever in the 74 year history of NDSSS. Dr. Raymond G. Arveson. Superintendent of Minneapolis Public Schools delivered the commencement address. NDSSS president. Clair T. Blikre, on behalf of the State Board of Higher Education, conferred degrees and presented diplomas and certificates to graduates. James A. Horton. Vice President of Academic Affairs, recommended the classes to the State Board. The four division deans presented candidates. Rev. Ernest Bartels. Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. gave the invocation and the benediction. The processional and recessional was played by Jerald Stewart, head librarian of the college. JoAnn Jen-nen and Jay Schimelfenig led the processional. Freshman honor student ushers were. Jan Mathison, Julie Novetzke. Sharon Kocourek. Jayne Bishoff. Dan Hickel. Elizabeth Reinbold. Melody Erickson, and Paul Braaten. Special graduation activities were held for parents and friends of the graduates after the excersises. 24
