In the construction of this book, the task has been divided between students, and faculty— whose duty and pleasure it has been to make the events recorded here as glorious as tradition demanded, and those of us on the year book staff whose duty and pleasure it has been to record those happenings as faithfully as possible. It is our hope that you may find this chronicle historically true, artistically beautiful, and spiritually significant. ADMINISTRATION The State School ol Science Administration is truly an effective guidance team that the students are fortunate in having while attending school. Experiencing a booming enrollment, the institution added a vice-president this year- STUDENT CABINET Advisers — Donald Rosley, Vernon E. Hektncr, Mercedes Morris. Left to right. Kathy Rindy, Ken Kjar. Back row, Leo Grossman, Terry Fox, Allyn Klaman. AKenneth Raschke, Commissioner, and Lloyd Nygaard, Auditor. Front Row-Albert Haas, Elvira Jestrab, Mildred Johnson, John Conrad. Second Row-Henry P. Sullivan, FredOrth, MartinG. Kruse, Greetings: From The Governor It is a great pleasure for me to again have this opportunity of extending my best wishes to each of you through the pages of the Agawasie. For those of you who now leave our fine North Dakota State School of Science, an unlimited variety of challenges and opportunities awaits you. I know that in these past few years, you have been well prepared to face an exciting future. You are, as I am sure you are aware, among the fortunate who have received a first-class education at an outstanding school. But with the knowledge and skills that you have acquired, there is attached a duty and an obligation to use your talents to the best of your ability on behalf of your community, 3'our state and your nation. Because you have had the dedication and perseverance to complete your education, I am confident that you will now move into new fields with an eagerness for solid achievement. I congratulate you and I wish you the best of success and happiness in the years ahead. Sincerely, State Board of Higher Education A Word From the President To Our Students Of 1964-65: THE STAIRWAY On the clay that this is being written, a painting which is titled "The Stairway to Tomorrow" was placed on the wall of our Conference Room in the Administration Building. Several people have stopped in today and each and every one was struck with the appropriateness of the picture. They reiterate the fact that every individual must plan for the future. We must necessarily look back to profit from the experiences of the past but it is far more important that we look forward to the possibilities Tomorrow. In the years that lie ahead for each and every student on our campus, more thought should be given to Planning. I only wish we could add some kind of required course that would imbue each and every person with the importance of planning; in other words, how to plan and an effective system of doing so. Planning was a major factor in the i President G. W. Haverty TO TOMORROW preparation of this Annual or Yearbook. Many of you who receive this book did considerable planning in making it possible for you to graduate from some specified department this year. I commend you to make a system of planning a part of your life. Add this to your other good qualities as you climb each day the Stairway that leads to Tomorrow. Many of you who receive this yearbook will have satisfactorily completed one year of work with us. I also urge you to plan so that you can return next year to ascend some additional steps of the Stairway of Tomorrow leading to success and happiness. So to each and every one of you I extend best wishes as you plan for the future and carry out those plans. Sincerely, 7Harold Roscngren Clifford E. Anderson Orlin Bakken Charles Borchert Alvin C. A good student in Sheet Metal and Refrigeration, he intends to pursue work in his chosen field.CAMPUS PERSONALITIES Selected By Music Department LeRoy Zimmerman, another standout in the Music Department, calls Carson his hometown. LeRoy is in Auto Mechanics. A good musician, he is both a band man and a singer. He played baritone horn in Concert Band and Pep Band for two years each. In Chorus two years and in Men's Quartet two years, he was also in performing small vocal groups. He has shown an exceptionally fine attitude.CAMPUS PERSONALITIES Selected By Music Department Wayne Vagts, outstanding in the Music Department, is from Breckenridge. Enrolled in Junior College pre-engineering, Wayne has made an enviable scholastic record as an A-average man. He was solo trumpet player in Concert Band for two years and member of Pep Band for two years. He performed in the "Trumpet Trio" both years at quarter concerts. An outstanding musician, he has been commended for his excellent attitude and his faithfulness. The Athletic Department has a well-rounded sports program, offering something for nearly every student. Almost always the "underdogs" with less experience than their conference opponents, the Wildcats have established an enviable record over the past years. The school awards letters in basketball, football, boxing, tennis and bowling. CO-CAPTAINS; EDITORS Left to right. Jim Schewe. Co-Captain. Dennis Stormoe. Editor of the Aga waste. and Judy Woehrmann. After the first quarter when Minot scored three times, the Wahpeton defense settled down and played respectable ball. Injuries to key backfield men hindered the Wildcats offense; a big part of the game was played with the reserve backfield.
