But the most outstanding of these events occured one September morn in 1938, when we entered North Cove High School. We were assign¬ ed to the special care of Mr. E. V. Gouge, our principal. Our class president, Harold Biddix, led us safely through the gales of our Freshman year. When we returned from our summer vacation, we were greeted by a new teacher, Mr. W. C. Twiddy. Har¬ old Biddix was again chosen as leader for our class. We learned real cooperation and teamwork, and plunged into our work like real troopers. During our Junior year we were under the helpful guidance of Mr. John Tyler. We again placed our lead¬ ership in the capable hands of Harold Biddix, We began to give thoughtful consideration to greater horizons. The main event of the year was the Junior-Senior Ban¬ quet at which we were hosts. At last we are Seniors. The long sought for time has finally arrived. With Eddie Mae Simmons as our president for the final year, and Miss Ruebelle Anderson for our sponsor, we are determined to “Soar on to gre¬ ater heights above.’’ The hardest task of the teachers was to hew the rough spots down and inscribe in us a sense of dignity, so that at the end of the year we may be decorously clad in our caps and gowns. Each Senior wrote a biography of his life in French which proved to be an accomplishment for each of us. Our Senior play “Romance In A Boarding House” was our greatest dramatic event, and proved to be a success. With ban¬ ners flying we feel that our school life has made possi¬ ble for us a larger, fuller, and better life. mmi SENIOR SUPRELATIYES Prettiest Girl . Best Looking Boy ...
