CARD Were Toughest 'CMAC7' Sums Up Season In looking back at out 1965 Football Season I can see many high spots and several low spots. We had a very good football team. There were two factors which plagued us throughout the season. First of all, we could not seem to hang onto the ball. In one stretch of four games, of which we lost 3, North Central gave up the football to the oppo- sition 19 times by either fumble or interception. Of these, six times were within our own 25-yard line. I must attri- bute our three losses to this factor because in each game we had at least 125 yards total offense more than our opposition. In one game, Augustana, we gained 326 yards to Augustana's 152 and were beaten 33 to 20. In this game, we fumbled four times and had two interceptions. The fumbles occurred on our 7, our 12 and our 30 and one interception was made on our 28-yard line. All led directly to Augustana touchdowns. We were a comparatively young football team this year in that we had only one Junior back and the rest were Sophomores and Freshmen. That lack of experience may have been part of our ball handling problem. The second factor which hurt us all season was injuries. By the end of the season we had 11 members of the team out for the year with injuries. When you figure that we started with 45 men, this is approximately 25? of our boys on the sidelines. In spite of these two factors, we were the number one team in the conference in total offense and the number one team in total defense. Our defensive team also ranked 9th in the nation CNAIAQ with an average of only 147.6 yards per game gained against them. In looking to next season, I believe we have the nucleus of a very fine football team with 24 returning lettermen. We must come up with replacements for graduating sen- iors, specifically at the tackles and our defensive secondary. Coach McAlister takes the traditional bath,' after an NCC Homecoming victory. All in all, Next year looks like a great one for NCC foot- ball. up iw? M.. ,wap riff! 1 I' ll 1 1' 1? 3 r I! nv H1 Il W I' I F! ii li rl ? W' hen we arrived at NCC there was a strange sense that history would stop, or at least not involve us, until June, 1966. However, history has gone on and somehow we have experienced, ob- served, and have been actively involved in it. In our four years we have witnessed the deaths of John F. Kennedy, Jawaharlal Nehru, Adlai Stevenson, Paul Tillich, Dag Hammarskjold, Pope John XXIII, Dr. Schellhase, Mr. Belding, Mrs. Liuzzo, and Kaufman Hall. We have also seen the rise and fall of Barry Goldwater, Ford's comeback with the Mustang, war in Viet- nam, the demise of Krushchev, Luciis engagement, a friend's marriage, and Mrs. Eigenbrodt's departure from NCC. We were ready for the arrival of the topless bathing suit, Batman, the Civil Rights Bill, the trip to Selma, the Cuban Crisis, Medicare, the Emergence of new nations, increased interest in humanity, and the birth of Rall Hall. North Central would not let us float around waiting for that magic date-June, 1966. Instead the college has constantly encouraged us to grasp life seriously, to live intentionally as those people who will be shaping history, and to feel a need to respond to the wants of the world. Randy Cue, Men's Representative, Lynn Pries, Vice-President, and Kent Koshko, President. The Junior Class is Tough!,' This mighty class returned to campus in September via Hondas, skate boards, bicycles, and Triumphs to attempt another nine months endurance of pain, agony, and depression enroute to receiving a diploma! fOur motto is Forward ? -YES!j The girls, dressed in Courreges styles, and patterned stockings fand don't forget the white boots!!! hurried to keep dates in the U with levi and skuzzy sweatshirt clad guys for cherry Seven-ups. After attending a Junior-Class-sponsored Homecom- ing Meeting, where they blew up balloons for a chapel program, they checked out the Rec Room-Card Den area, and danced to 'gln Crowdl' and Hang On, Sloopy while licking peppermint ice cream cones. To prove their enthusiasm, they sponsored a Hootensocky Choot while you are in your socks!! and a variety show, in which a certain large gray animal made the scene, to help defray the cost of the prom which was the best ever presented! In between class, activity dates, and planning for the Christmas Dance, the cool cats of '67 rushed back to Rall and Seager Halls, exchanged a few words fvia the windows and loud voicesj, and headed to their rooms to do some booking before they sacked out for a good night of rack action! by Sheila Seefeldt ll6 Stu Allen 'Quay-ff' Nancy Bridgeman S 'lx , flies. And it means plenty to our class-all two hundred and fifty-six of us. Although four is generally thought of as a relatively small number, it seems huge when it refers to years, and especially when one thinks of the years in terms of study- ing and having fun. Now, having completed two years, we look forward to the next two with great expectations. When a group has enthusiasm, it vibrates from the first moment until the last that it is together. A certain vibration is felt when the class with a capital Ev marches in. Since we have so much enthusiasm, it's not a wonder that our class breaks the thermometer with its class spirit. Now we come to HA . What can it mean? Well, it's the thing we all need to make our booking, playing, enthusiasm, and class spirit worthwhile. It is a-m-b-i-t-i-o-n, and it is imperative. Although our personal ambitions may differ, we all desire to learn, to get an education. - Two hundred and fifty-six members + two completed years of studying mixed with fun Qwith another two years to goj -1- enthusiasm + class spirit + ambition, of course, equals the Class of ,68. 120 Sue Anderson ,ff , x R f N N l f X I afavx U ? , an .-A Barb Bradley X r ,iam sw, npr' Sharon Deibner Lee Eichrnann nun f' 5' ,u 'Eff I l Alice Beetz 'abd' XI Carol Cina rt J,-xg? in ffm gym iw-W. 1 ff If 4 Carol Cronkhxte Dee Denny . xx fh- '-K 3 no-,. ,x , fbi. lf.ff'L I if J E, A if Gary ,Batha Arlene Batty ,rf . 1 if ,-, W, .fu V, fi 542 'Zi , X . 2, iN' N , Cathy Ciolac WWI '59- xlibs X A Pat Dalmon .-,bf t f Laurie Bishop a- A may ' f jj l 4 u g ' fffi tw 'LF ff il? Walk with a purpose. Hide your 'green '.,, Pretending was not necessary, however. In fact, the remainder of the school wondered if they were the ones being kiddcd. With the influence of '69 working on them, they saw a seemingly innocent orange rock hatch a tissue paper cardinal and the business of the carry-out pizza joints quadruple.
